FINAL MEMORIES
OF PETER
To turn on morning television and see Peter Tomarken enthusiastically guiding contestants through the
For a genuine classic to succeed, the chemistry of the panel has to be right and the host has to be a catalyst to blend it.
Of course...
Like everyone else, I am devastated by the news. Peter was irrepressible
and I find it so difficult to realize that he is gone. We were fast friends
during our GSN days, even though I did the morning shift and he did the evening
one. We even shared a parking space in the GSN lot because we were seldom
there at the same time.
>From the moment I first met him in 1994, I was taken in by his enormous
sense of humor and wit. Steve Day and I enjoyed an easy mock-adversarial
relationship with him and the highlight of our morning was doing our "teases..." the
cross promotional things we did at the end of our show to get the viewers to
watch his... I bet Brian Conn might have some of them.
One of the last times I saw Peter he was starring in short film that my
boyfriend was working on as the director of photography. It had been several
years since we had both left GSN and I gave him the biggest hugs. He always put
a smile on my face. We both bemoaned the fact that game shows had pretty
much gone away and he told me he had re-invented himself AGAIN and was doing
well selling real estate. I am struck by the difficulty of our business; that
someone as talented as he was had to constantly re-invent himself. He made no
secret of the fact that before he was hired at GSN he had been waiting
tables in Beverly Hills. That was what I loved about him... he was always a
straight shooter. He will be sorely missed.

---Whether a fan of the classic game will find this IGAS an
enjoyable experience without making comparisons to the mother
version.
---How the panel will be a key ingredient to the show.
---The challenge of coming up with celebrity segments in a five-day-a-week edition of the show.
