GRIESE QUARTERBACKS DOMINGUEZ
TO $100,000 WHEEL JACKPOT
Thirty-four years ago, Bob Griese quarterbacked the Miami Dolphins to their first Super Bowl victory. Tuesday night, he scored a winning touchdown for his playing partner on Wheel of Fortune.
Teamed with Dolphins fan Babette Dominguez of Miami, Griese watched as she identified BRAINS AND BRAWN as her bonus puzzle.
Pat Sajak opened the envelope and for the first time ever on an NFL Players Week edition, the $100,000 jackpot appeared.
A huge celebration erupted as Dominguez's total in cash and prizes suddenly skyrocketed to $114,310.
Among her haul: a trip to a Fox awards show in Washington, D.C., and a trip to Mazatlan in Mexico.
Dominguez becomes the runaway leader for a trip to Super Bowl XL and a Super Bowl prize package from Players, Inc., which goes to the champion with the highest winning total at the end of the week.
Griese earns $114,310 for his charity, Judi's House. The total is the highest ever won by a celebrity player for a non-profit agency on the show.
